Support Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar, MT

Our Lady of Lourdes in Poplar, Montana, is much more than a church. Located on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, it is a spiritual home, a gathering place, and a lifeline for Native American families and neighbors throughout this rural community. Under the care of Fr. Anietie (Akama) Ukanide, MSP, who serves five churches in the area, the parish provides access to the sacraments, food, clothing, warm meals, and other essential assistance to those in need. With a weekly collection of approximately $480 and just one paid staff member, Val Gorder, the parish relies heavily on the generosity of partners like Our Lady of Lourdes in Arlington to sustain its ministry.

Following the devastating fire that forced the parish from its church on August 25, 2026, the community has demonstrated remarkable faith and resilience. Determined to continue worshiping, parishioners have gathered for Mass at the Fort Peck Tribes’ Cultural Center and now use a former senior feeding site, carefully setting up and dismantling their worship space each week. While the parish explores temporary facilities, the process of rebuilding its permanent home will take time. Your continued support is more important than ever as Our Lady of Lourdes works to secure a stable place to worship, preserve its close-knit parish community, and continue serving those who depend on it for spiritual care and basic necessities. Through your generosity, you help ensure that this community remains rooted in faith and that the doors of the Church remain open to all.

Thank you for your support and generosity!
